Why an Artist Book?

Sat & Sun 27 & 28 MAY 2023 | 10 am - 4.30pm
Max 8 participants
$595

This 2 day workshop is a masterclass focussing on the artists’ book.

Through discussion and demonstration, we will examine the relationship between the artists concepts and the artists’ book.

We will examine ideas and form, text and image, technique and materiality and look at the history and development via technologies in the ever-expansive field of artists’ books.

Dianne will show you examples of my her and other professional artists using conventional and experimental or altered structures, printing techniques, binding, scale, design and typography.

Book patterns will be provided to each participant on various structures, folding and binding techniques but please note this is not a bookbinding workshop.

This masterclass is not for beginners and not just for printmakers, but for artists who want to shift their work and explore new boundaries by venturing into the world of the artists’ book.

You will leave the masterclass having seen, held and explored contemporary artists’ books of leading artists. You will know more about the history, design, techniques, structures and materials that will enable you to take your work into the realm of the artists’ book in your own studio.

“Everything in the world exists in order to end up as a book.”

This class will take a maximum 10 people only and will be delivered mainly by demonstration with participation by attendees. Participants are encouraged to bring their own artwork for discussion.
